Artist Statement

Kate Lynda is a British-born fine artist and photographer based in Sydney, Australia. She began her artistic journey in Loughborough, England, where she developed a deep fascination with water and the mysteries it holds — a theme that has remained central to her creative practice for over a decade. The serenity she experiences near the ocean, the gentle trickle of rain, and the fresh spritz of sea air continue to inspire her work, driving her to create art that evokes a sense of calm and connection for the viewer.

After completing her Fine Art Diploma in Loughborough, Kate spent several years studying and exploring other non-creative avenues before settling in London. Amidst the fast-paced corporate world and the vibrant energy of city life, she found herself longing for the coastal landscapes and blue hues that had shaped her childhood, particularly during holidays on the island of Alderney in the Channel Islands. While London’s rivers, parks, and lakes offered moments of respite, the pull of the sea remained strong.

In late 2022, the opportunity to relocate to Australia presented itself, and Kate, along with her partner Danny, embraced the chance to pursue a new lifestyle in the land of sun and sea. The dramatic shift in seasons and environment brought with it a renewed appreciation for the outdoors. Living just a stone’s throw from Bondi Beach, Kate’s daily routine transformed to include early morning sunrises, walks along the glistening turquoise coastline, and ocean dips that served as both a wake-up ritual and a way to unwind after a long day.

To deepen her engagement with her surroundings, Kate enrolled in a Photography Course with The Aperture Club in 2025, refining her technical skills and reigniting her passion for composition and light. Simultaneously, she returned to oil painting after a long hiatus, rediscovering her innate talent and creating ethereal scenes that celebrate the beauty and emotional resonance of water. Her work now brings the calming, blue-toned essence of nature into her own home — and increasingly, into the homes of others.
